Enterprise Network Upgrade with Switches, Routers and Wireless Access Points

Project Background

An enterprise customer needed to upgrade an existing office network that had been expanded several times without unified planning.

The network experienced unstable wireless connections, insufficient uplink bandwidth and difficulties separating traffic between office users, servers, cameras and guest devices.

Customer Requirements

The customer required:

* Stable wired and wireless connectivity

* Centralized network management

* Separate networks for different departments

* Higher-speed uplinks

* Support for IP cameras and wireless APs

* Improved network security

* Future expansion capacity

Proposed Network Structure

The proposed enterprise network was divided into core, access and wireless layers.

Core Network

A Layer 3 managed switch was proposed as the central connection point for servers, access switches and the internet gateway.

The core layer provided:

* VLAN routing

* Link aggregation

* Access-control policies

* High-speed fiber uplinks

* Network monitoring

* Redundant uplink options

Access Network

Managed access switches were used to connect computers, printers, cameras, IP phones and other terminal equipment.

Depending on the connected devices, the customer could select:

* Standard Gigabit access switches

* PoE access switches

* 2.5G multi-gigabit switches

* Switches with 10G uplink ports

* Stackable access switches

PoE switches could provide power and data connections for wireless APs, cameras and IP phones.

Internet Gateway and Routing

An enterprise router was used to manage internet access, WAN connections, VPN services and routing policies.

Important router requirements included:

* WAN bandwidth

* Concurrent user capacity

* VPN capability

* Firewall functions

* Multiple WAN support

* Remote management

Wireless Access

Ceiling-mounted wireless APs were distributed according to the office layout and expected user density.

The wireless solution considered:

* Indoor coverage area

* Number of concurrent users

* Wall and floor structure

* Wi-Fi standard

* Power method

* Controller or cloud management

* Roaming requirements

Optical Connectivity

SFP and SFP+ optical transceivers were used for fiber connections between floors or buildings.

The fiber type, connector and transmission distance were confirmed before selecting the modules.

Project Result

The upgraded structure separated different types of network traffic and improved management visibility.

Higher-speed uplinks reduced congestion, while centrally managed APs provided more consistent wireless access across the office environment.

Jiayi Communication supplies switches, routers, wireless APs, optical modules, DAC/AOC cables and network accessories for enterprise network projects.

Meta Description:
